Field Day!! North American Emergency Communications Exercise

Posted:

Field Day is the single most popular Amateur Radio on-the-air emergency communications event held annually in North America. Each year more than 40,000 Radio Amateur radio operators gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations. It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight their many communications modes and roles.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, beginning at 15:00  Saturday and running through 15:00 Sunday.

This year’s event in HRM is being held at Fort Needham Memorial Park which will be open to the public.

HRM EMO is supporting the HRM’s Amateur radio community: Halifax Auxiliary Telecommunication Service, Halifax and Dartmouth Amateur Radio clubs with this emergency communications exercise.

These volunteers support EMO during emergency.

The public is encouraged to come, talk over the airways and learn more about emergency preparedness from Joint Emergency Management Teams, Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Salvation army, etc.
