We are providing Accessibility Training on 17 Jul from 0900 - 1600 at Purdy's Tower in Halifax.

Going from Support to Inclusion: Accessibility Training

 This course aims to familiarize individuals with concepts around disability and accessibility. It covers the basics of workplace accommodations, including the employer’s duty to accommodate and examples of ways to accommodate individuals with disabilities, as well as best practices for accessible communication. Accessibility is key to creating an inclusive HRM, from how we engage with the public to how we hire employees and everything in between. This course offers recommendations and takeaways to support you in considering accessibility in your daily work. 

Objectives

• Identify what accessibility means • Distinguish between different types of disabilities • Differentiate between the different models of disability • Demonstrate knowledge of how to support individuals with disabilities  • Identify key accessibility features in documents and presentations • Demonstrate basic practices to ensure accessible documents and presentations • Apply this knowledge toward creating accessible materials in HRM
